Sprint for Life

This year was really special for me when two of my boys joined me at the Sprint For Life 5K.  They did the children's race and it was nice to honor Mimi by raising money to help research of Ovarian Cancer.  I fought back tears several times, but having them there made me smile!

Boys will be boys

These boys love to be outside getting wet, catching bugs, and catching lizards.  Braeden is showing one of the lizards they caught.

It's not a great picture, but you can see how much fun Colton is having in the background.  He has a lizard in his hand too!

When we are inside, they boys love to build "hide outs,"  AKA forts.  Once they build them, they bring every toy under the sun underneath the blankets to play.

Colton is getting too big.  He loves Lightening McQueen and Finn McMissle and plays cars all the time.

Silly Boy

I just thought this picture captured Colton's personality so well.  He is always doing so much silly stuff to make us laugh, and he is such a happy baby.  He put my shoes on and tried to walk around one morning.  He thought he was so funny.....and I did too!

T-Ball

This year we are so lucky that both Austin and Braeden fit the age bracket for the 5 year old t-ball team, and can be on the same team.  I'm not sure this will happen again until they are in middle school or high school.

Easter 2012

Easter weekend has lots of traditions around here.  On Friday we dye Easter eggs.

Saturday is the Guthrey family reunion where crawfish is king.

Even though they have been pinched, they still put their fingers in that mucky water to get crawfish.

None of them were born in Louisiana, being a cajun is in their blood.

And the guys were excited that Daddy brought a model rocket to launch in the field.

Here is the mess of kids waiting in line from smallest to largest to hit the pinata.

Colton was first, and knew just what to do.  Look at that stance and that face would you!?!

Braeden swinging hard.  The pinata was reinforced with a little duct tape before the big kids hit it so everyone got a chance.

Austin was the first to be be blindfolded in line, he is officially part of the big kids now.

On Easter morning, here is what the boys woke up to.  The Easter bunny sure was good to them.

Mom loves that the Easter bunny always brings a learning toy, a movie, and a toothbrush.  Not just candy.

Of course the whole point of Easter is about Jesus and that he died on the cross for our sins, then on the third day he rose again.  The boys really understood that this is why we have Easter this year.    After going to church we went over to Grandma and Grandpa's house for Easter lunch.  We had a great time hanging out on their new outdoor kitchen/patio.  Leave it to Braeden to find bugs.  He found a whole family of baby caterpillars!

Garden Progress

The garden started off as a pretty easy project, but now with the caterpillars and bugs, it is a bit more difficult.  It's just that the organic stuff takes more treatments and you really have to get the treatment on the bugs in order to stop them.  Either way the reward of having fresh veggies at our hand is so wonderful.  I haven't had to buy any lettuce in a couple of months.  We are now enjoying the broccoli, tomatoes, cucumbers, okra, all of the herbs, jalapenos, along with the lettuce.  Pretty soon the carrots, beans, potatoes, onions, garlic, strawberries, green bell peppers, zucchini, and squash will be ready.

We put netting all around it to keep the critters and birds out.

Yummy tomatoes.  We picked some of them green and made fried green tomatoes the other night.  They were so good.

Boys in the bluebonnets

Until they don't let me do it any more, I will keep on taking my boys to a field of bluebonnets for pictures.  In Texas, it's just somethin' you do!

Aren't they beautiful!?!

We didn't go at the right time of day because it was so sunny, but I love how you can see the big blue Texas sky behind them here.

There is a small fire station building near the field which is covered in these pebbles,  I thought it made a good back drop.

A garage door made a pretty good back drop too.  These boys look good no matter where they are!
